Dwarf Siberian Kale – Raw Seed
Cold-Hardy, Fast-Growing Brassica for High Forage Yield and Late-Season Attraction

Dwarf Siberian Kale is a leafy brassica that delivers both outstanding cold tolerance and excellent forage quality, making it a reliable component in fall food plots across a wide range of climates. With its fast emergence, broad leaves, and high leaf-to-stem ratio, this kale variety produces a lush, nutrient-dense canopy that deer hammer—especially after the first frosts when sugar levels spike.

Unlike other brassicas that may suffer from early stemminess or poor regrowth, Dwarf Siberian Kale maintains palatability longer into the season and is known for its soft, tender foliage. It’s more cold-hardy than turnips or rape, often remaining green and grazeable deep into winter. That extended window makes it particularly useful in northern zones or in plots meant to hold deer through the late season.

This seed is raw and untreated, ideal for food plotters who prefer uncoated seed or are working with specific soil amendments or biological inputs. It performs best when drilled or broadcast into a well-prepared, weed-free seedbed with adequate moisture and balanced fertility.

Dwarf Siberian Kale can be planted alone for a pure leafy brassica stand, or as a key component in diverse fall blends. It mixes well with cereal grains, clovers, and other brassicas like radish or forage turnip.

  • Seeding Rate:

    • 6–8 lbs per acre (drilled)

    • 8–10 lbs per acre (broadcast)

    • In blends: 2–4 lbs per acre

  • Planting Depth: ¼ inch

  • Best Planting Time: Late July through early September (depending on region)

  • Soil Preference: Well-drained soils with pH between 6.0–7.0

  • Fertility Notes: Responds well to nitrogen; apply 30–60 lbs/acre at planting for optimal leaf growth

  • Coating: Raw, untreated seed

  • Bag Sizes: 1 lb, 5 lb, 10 lb

Whether used as a standalone plot or mixed into a broader blend, Dwarf Siberian Kale offers a high-tonnage, late-season food source that stands up to frost, pressure, and poor conditions—making it a dependable tool in your food plot rotation.
